RIPA (& RIPSA) Authorising Officer Training

Face-To-Face or Live Virtual Training

Introduction To Our RIPA (& RIPSA) Authorising Officer Training

It is important that authorising officers understand their role and the requirements placed upon them as the RIPA process is now seen as one of the most effective routes for the defence to undermine cases.

For example, there are 6 legal tests that the authorising officer must address in order to make the authorisation lawful and there are cases that have been lost where this hasn’t been completed correctly, so we make sure that our delegates understand these. Our training is designed to enable participants to authorise covert activity confidently, in accordance with current legislation, good practice and guidance from the Investigatory Powers Commissioners Officer (IPCO).

We are one of the UK’s leading RIPA (& RIPSA) training providers so you can rest assured that we have extensive experience of delivering RIPA training to organisations of all sizes. We have also been RIPA practitioners so not only do we know the law, we know the problems that you face when trying to apply it practically and we also have a number of solutions to make your working life as an authorising officer easier.

Our accredited RIPA Authorising Officer training is aimed at managers that are responsible for authorising the various forms of activity under the law. Our trainers have trained authorising officers from across the whole spectrum of organisations that use RIPA and we have specific courses designed for:

• Local Authority Authorising Officer training.
• Police & Law Enforcement Authorising Officer training.

• RIPA Authorising Officer Training for Government Departments.
• RIPA Authorising Officer Training for Investigative Bodies.

We Offer 3 Different Levels Of Authorising Officer Training:

A Core-Skills course
(1 day)

An Intermediate Skills course
(2 days)
An Advanced Skills course
(3 days)
Plus we offer a one day CHIS Authorising Officers module to accompany any of the above courses.
Our Advanced Skills course is designed to meet the relevant National Occupational Standards (NOS) and for police forces the College of Policing training standards specified for Authorising Officers. Also, if you want to, through completing the Advanced Skills course, we can offer you a formal qualification as an Authorising Officer so you can demonstrate that you are qualified for this crucial role if you are challenged in a court or tribunal.

We also offer training aimed specifically at Senior Authorising Officers.

Client Feedback

{

I have to be honest and say I wasn’t looking forward to coming on a RIPA course but I REALLY enjoyed it and more importantly, I learnt so much! I feel confident now to perform my role as an authorising officer and the example of an authorisation will prove to be invaluable. Thank you!
