Training Options
We offer specialist training for Authorising Officers responsible for approving covert activity.
This includes two distinct training options:
CHIS Authorising Officer Training
Available as a stand-alone course or as a one-day module that complements any of our wider Authorising Officer programmes.
This training enables Authorising Officers to:
- Legally authorise members of the public who meet the definition of a CHIS, ensuring full compliance with RIPA and relevant codes of practice.
- Understand the risks, requirements, and governance involved in managing covert human sources.
- Make robust, defensible authorisation decisions.
Undercover Officer & Relevant Source Authorising Training
Offered as a separate, dedicated training option for Authorising Officers who are required to:
- Authorise undercover officers, including UCO deployments and activity.
- Authorise relevant sources, ensuring appropriate oversight, compliance, and operational safety.
- Apply legal, ethical, and policy frameworks to sensitive covert operations.
